MICHELE MARZO (1924 – 2017)
Michele Marzo passed away peacefully in his sleep early Monday morning, March 20th, at Humber River Hospital. He was independent, social and active right to the end and will be sorely missed by his family and his many friends.
Born in 1924 in Grumo Appula, Puglia, Italy, Michele was a proud Carabinieri who served in WW II and years thereafter before immigrating to Toronto with his family. He became part of the College Street Little Italy community where he participated in local parades and community activities. He also helped create the Carabinieri Association of Toronto and the Grumo Appula Brotherhood Association.
After working for 25 years at Air Canada, he retired to an active life and spent many years enjoying country life in LaFontaine Ontario with his family.
He is survived by his daughter Mary (husband Murray), son Frank, grandson Johnny (partner Melissa) and, grandson Frankie (wife Christina) and great granddaughter Stella.
He was predeceased by his wife Tamara who passed away three and a half years ago.
He was a real gentleman and a gentle man. Beloved “Pop”, Nonno and Nonnino will remain forever in our hearts!
