With overwhelming sadness we learned of Yaroslav Syrokomskiy’s sudden passing on March 8, 2019.
A much loved husband, friend, and colleague, Yaroslav was 53 years old.
His everyday kindness and willingness to celebrate those around him, inspired many of us daily to have more fun in everything we do.
As a Sr. Technical Architect at TELUS, he leaves a legacy of powerful and game changing insights and solutions.
His outstanding intellect and worldliness made him interesting and engaging and a joy to be with. He loved the outdoors, travel and making new friends.
He is survived by his wife, Olena Vakuliuk, daughter Arina (11), and son Andrei (6).
We will miss him.

It is hard to see you go Slava! We will always remember you as being kind, generous and most genuine human being. Over the course of a quarter of a century, 13 of which years we were married, you have been a great friend, most understanding husband, and a wonderful son-in-law for my mom and dad. Thank you for being a great teacher, sharing your joy and light. God bless your pure soul! We will always love and remember you! Tanya and Galina

Slava Words might fail me, but when it happens, all that one can do is try to speak from the heart. The heart is a capricious creature. It changes frequently and without warning, but never fails to tell you the truth. I met Slava in 1985. We have known each other for 34 years. For all these 34 years it never crossed my mind that one day I will be desperately searching for words to express how me and his close friends feel in the face of this loss. I often say that when we all met and became fast friends, we felt like we were immortal. It was the spring of our lives, and everything was forever. Everyone who knew him agrees that he was special. There was this light inside of him, the light that made people around him to want to stay in his orbit forever. That light also made him to shine brighter and burn faster that many people around. These days his special light made his friends in Yekaterinburg and all over the world talk about him non-stop, cry, laugh, share stories, debate his views, get angry with him (how can you not? He was so stubborn!) and remember the tiniest details about the time spent in his company. I hope we all continue to do just that to make sure he stays with us and that his special light continues to shine. None of us, people who knew him for many years, some of us from childhood, feel that he is gone from our lives. Maybe, because we still hold him close. Until we meet again, my dearest friend... Irina
