on February 8, 2020 in Toronto, Canada at the age of 92.
Đặng, Bửu Chương is survived by his nine children, 22 grandchildren and seven
great grand-children. He is preceded in death by dear wife Huỳnh, Thị Kế, his
beloved sons Đặng, Pháp Hùng and Đặng, Pháp Đông.
Đặng, Bửu Chương was born in 1928 and went to school in China. At age
fourteen he fled the country and settled initially in Vinh Long South Vietnam with
an uncle and learned Chinese herbal medicine, then moved to Saigon and started
making it on his own. Đặng, Bửu Chương met his darling Huỳnh, Thị Kế and
married her in early 1950. Over 22 years the couple welcomed eleven children into
Đặng, Bửu Chương worked various jobs, then opened Khánh Sanh Đường, a small
shop selling Chinese herbs and remedies, and later on opened up a retail grocery
store. After the takeover of the South Vietnam by Communist regime, both shops
were closed as part of the Communist second nationalization movement targeting all
small trading shops. From that time, Đặng, Bửu Chương became a farmer and
worked harder, even not by choice, to feed the family until immigrated to Canada.
Đặng, Bửu Chương never had a chance for higher education in his life, yet he
taught his children a lot just by setting examples. Đặng, Bửu Chương exemplified
through his entirely life as a faithful husband, a dedicated father, and a self-reliance,
selfless yet disciplined, organized, hard-working and distinguish man-of-all-trade
person. Through the ups and down times of his life, Đặng, Bửu Chương provided
well for his family and opportunities for education for all of his children.
Family has arranged for a private mourning ceremony on Feb 12, 2020. Visitation
at the Keele Chapel of Demarco Funeral home is opened to all on Feb 13 and Feb
14 between 2pm to 9pm. The funeral is scheduled for 9am on Saturday, February
15, 2020; all are welcome to attend. The honorable monk Thích Tâm Hòa will
officiate the ceremonies. Condolences can be sent to Đặng, Bửu Chương’s
surviving children. Memorial donation will not be accepted.
